The Sacrifice of the Heart

"Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving, and perform your vows to the Most High, and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me." Psalm 50:14-15,

"Mark this, then, you who forget God, lest I tear you apart, and there be none to deliver! The one who offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies me; to one who orders his way rightly. I will show the salvation of God!" Psalm 50:22-23

The sacrifice of the heart, not hands,
Is what our Lord demands.
For He is not impressed at all
With the performance of our plans.

Should we not give thanks to Him,
From Whom all things have come.
For all we have, He freely gives
Through His immortal Son.

The very breath we breathe each day
Is lent to us for the purpose
That all may see the image
Of our God beyond the surface.

More glorious is all His ways
Beyond our mortal minds,
Than we convey with lips of clay,
And yet His Spirit finds

Those prepared and brings to life
To praise our God Most High,
For we will call and glorify
Our King Who drew us nigh!

And from the very rising of
The Son of holiness,
Christ shines through us,
The perfection of His beauty, glorious!
