Deep Water

While pondering the content of the following verses of scriptures:

The purpose in a man’s heart is like deep water, but a man of understanding will draw it out. Proverbs 20:5

The words of a man’s mouth are deep waters; the fountain of wisdom is a bubbling brook. Proverbs 18:4

Blows that would cleanse away evil; strokes make clean the innermost parts. Proverbs 20:30

But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his stripes we are healed. Isa.53:5

these words came forth:

Your purpose in our heart O' God--
Like water deep from birth,
Drawn out by Him Who understands;
The King of all the earth!

Jesus Christ the crucified,
Rejected by all men.
And had He not poured out His soul
We would still be in our sin.

And yet to death He bore our guilt
And suffered for our shame.
And though His beauty we saw not
His glory was the same.

Ohhhhh, the griefs and sorrows borne
When smitten by You God.
It was Your will to crush Him then
For all who would then trod,

In the steps of which You choose
To show forth all Your will.
That in His image we show forth
Your Word conforms us still.

As by Your Spirit You show forth
The glory of Your grace.
Your Fountain springing up supplies
The strength to run the race,

In such a way that pleases You,
You show us day by day,
That we may magnify You Lord,
The Life, The Truth, The Way!
