Run to Him

I was awakened around 4:00 a.m. and a question came to mind asked of me by a young server at Cracker Barrel, who professes faith in Christ, and has expressed a desire to go to the foreign mission field, "Why did I come back to Cracker Barrel?"

I hurriedly got a pen and wrote the following with the intent to give to her:

TO LEARN: (A) Contentment and joy is found in God and God alone, because of Christ and Christ alone. (B) The mission field is where ever you are. (C) God in His Sovereignty has placed you here to make contacts to help you on your journey (The members of His body above and on the earth / see Dianna's blog) (D) To love Him and to have a passion for His glory where ever you are and in whatever He would have you to do at all times.

And this I trust the Lord will use in her young life.

Then I filled out some envelopes to send to family members, of which the Lord has placed on my and Dianna's heart, concerning our upcoming wedding. As I stepped out on the porch and could hear in the distance the sound of a cock crowing, I was reminded of Peter's denial of Christ and of my own in the past and these words came to mind.

Oh, Father help us mark our time
And remember it is short,
As by Your grace we look to You
And to men we exhort.

Oh, Look to Christ, and Run to Him
For nothing else will count,
Trust in His grace to see His face
On eagles wings you'll mount.

Ought but His cross will carry you
Above your vain oblations.
Not any work that you might do
Or other obligations.

Which taught by men, is only sin,
Wrapped up in false religion,
Expressed by minds with their vile lies
And darkened superstition.

God is the center of all Truth
And for His glory made you.
And though by sin, hell be your end,
Repent and Christ will rescue.

For He alone for sin atoned
By blood and pleased the Father,
And satisfied the wrath of God
For every son and daughter,

Of which He calls and justifies
According to His Word,
To magnify His glorious grace
In those in whom He's cured.

For now in Him we enter in,
Receive His Promised Spirit
His glory now our chief desire,
And, to His Name we fear it.

But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.
2nd Peter 2:1-3

Sing to the LORD, all the earth! Tell of his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples! For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised, and he is to be held in awe above all gods.26For all the gods of the peoples are idols, but the LORD made the heavens. Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and joy are in his place.

Ascribe to the LORD, O clans of the peoples, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength! Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; bring an offering and come before him! Worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness; tremble before him, all the earth; yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved. Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice, and let them say among the nations, "The LORD reigns!"
1 Chronicles 16:23-31
